The run itself

Well, I achieved 1 of my goals, which was to run faster than last year. I did it in 1.03.56, the official time from Greatrun.org. So that was pleasing.

The other aspect was that I raised over €2,800 Euro, which was nice for Debra Ireland.

The fact remains, that you should not run when you have a viral infection. My lungs could not fully cope, and I actually made myself really ill from it.

2 weeks later, with the help of anti-biotics, I am finally on the mend.

Thank you all again for your invaluable support.

The end is shown at the top, with my daughters....

2 hours to go to the race

Me and the girls have donned our Debra Ireland t-shirts, and I am feeling a lot better. Not the best shape to run 10 KM, but my head is good Now I hope that my cold ridden body can cope with it. I am a stubborn person, and I will give it my all today.

The weather is nice, so I will have at least that to get me through. Have taken medicine, eaten an omelet, and will take plenty of water and some gel packs

Bring it on

Feeling really poorly

Dear all, I hope I can make this run tomorrow. Have had a persistent cough that has now turned in to a proper cold. No excuses!!!

I am going to do this run, I have trained for it, and I have been looking forward to it for quite some time now. I will still give it my all. Hopefully I will feel better in the morning.

Thank you all for your support, and I will take some pictures in the morning of me and the girls in our Debra t-shirts

Thanks

4 days to go..

I am ready I think.

Did a great turbulence training set today, which finished up with 20 mins of interval running. I will do 1 more run tomorrow, and then save myself for the run on Sunday. It starts at 13.15. I do want to do the run in under 1 hour and I feel it is do-able.

You can still sponsor me here

Thank you for all your help so far, I am going to post twice more before the actual even, and then after the event

My 2 girls will watch me cross the finishing line, so that will be nice for me

5.2 KM in 29 mins

I did a nice run today. Up to the green, around it 2.5 times and then back to the gym. Felt so much better today than I did on Tuesday, so I must be getting there.

The run is here

Also, I still need all your help to get to my goal of 3,000 Euro so please help.

This is so important to me and the children of Debra

You can send me an email telling me how much you would like to pledge, or you can donate on line at

Did the full run....

But I was wrecked. Did it with Nick Johnson, and I had to stop a few times and walk. Maybe I am being too hard on myself. Total time 65 mins, or 1 hour and 5 mins. Picture of me is after the run, but with the really nice shirts we got for the run.

Please please pledge as you have no idea how much pain I am going through here....

The race is only 3 weeks away

I did a trial run in Phoenix Park yesterday, and I am on course for doing the run within the hour. I need 2 weeks of hard training now, and I should be in good shape.

I got my race number today, I am number 964. The running shirts we got are really nice and are made of the absorbant material that is good for running. I won't run in it though, as I have Debra Ireland to get me some branded shirts to promote their site.

I am looking forward to it now. I know it will be tough (once again) but I am more prepared this time.

I am doing the real run tomorrow so I will see how I get on with it.

Please pledge if you can

Or tell me how much you can spare for this worthy cause

Keep the faith

Faster, faster faster

I am now thinking that I should do shorter, but faster runs. I have been reading a lot about doing resistance training and it would appear that doing small sprints with small walks would benefit me.

Did my back in a bit on Friday, which meant I could not go out with David K on Sunday. Mind you, had a pretty good day with my kids and the future Mrs Schiko. But that is a different story.

The plan for this week is to change my weights routine to get me some new drive and stop eating sweets for the whole week. I also plan 2 runs. One on Wednesday to run in to work, and on Saturday with Nick Johnson early enough so I can get back to greet the estate agents. The run on both days will be about 6 KM, so it should be good. May even do a little "sprint" session on Friday night around the canals of RCP

Will start taking some pictures for the blog

Until next time, stay healthy and lean. Don't be lazy

It's been a while...

So, I have been quiet on the blog for a while. With Christmas and the new year, I have just not had the time to write the blog. But since my last post I have done a lot of training. I did 1 run on my holidays, but mainly I relaxed and put on a bit of weight!!! That has all come off now, and some more. For the first time in 14 years have I gone under 15.5 stone (98.5 kg's). My weight training is going well, and yesterday I did 40 mins spinning and abs + 60 mins boxercise.

This morning I ran from home to the gym (5.7 KM), and even thought it was a bit slow 34 mins 20 sec, I feel good and I just need to up the amount I run now. I will do 12 KM on Sunday in the park. Will keep you posted after that

In the meantime, please pledge to my fundraiser via:

http://www.mycharity.ie/event/claus_schikos_event/

I have raised 1,235 on line so far and 490 off line, so in total 1,725. But I am still 1275 short of my target, so please pledge

Stay lean, not lazy
